Hi, I’m Jane and I am the founder of Calm Therapy. Welcome to my website!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself…
Well, my first 'proper' job was in in the music industry. I got the job by answering a tiny ad in the Evening Standard. To my great surprise when I turned up for the interview it was at a big recording studio in West London! Working in a recording studio was really exciting and I was lucky enough to meet several famous people such as Kylie Minogue, Take That and George Michael, to name but a few.
Despite the glamour and buzz of working for a recording studio I didn’t feel professionally fulfilled. As chance would have it, a friend who worked in one of the record companies decided to train as an aromatherapist. This intrigued me, so I went to my local college to see what therapy training was on offer. The only course available was a 12-week taster Reflexology evening course.
During these evening classes we practised on each other. I felt so amazing, relaxed and energised after each session and was so fascinated that the body is mapped out on our feet and hands that I went on to do the full training at the London School of Reflexology Covent Garden in 2002/2003 (now located in Regents Park). So I retrained in therapies - out of curiosity to start with - and then discovered the AMAZING benefits and wanted to share them with other people.
I am motivated to help people feel good. I love it when a client comes in so super stressed that they can barely look at me. By the time I've treated them, they look and feel like a new person, so relaxed and at ease. My clients regularly tell me they feel like they are walking on clouds after a treatment....even after a facial!
It's amazing what an hour of care can do for someone’s long-term physical and emotional health and wellbeing! Since then, I have gone on to complete further Reflexology CPD and other therapies. You can find out more about the therapies I offer here and book a course here.
Nowadays I spend my free time reading, cooking, spending time with my kids, watching films - black comedies are my favourite! I also enjoy walking in the Sussex countryside, seasonal sea swimming, eating out with friends, mooching around museums and art galleries and holidaying in the Mediterranean, whenever possible. As a therapist I also go for loads of therapies – us therapists need therapy too!
